Manchester United have been handed a tough test in the Round of 32 in 2020-21 UEFA Europa League, as they plus, Arsenal, Leicester, Rangers and Tottenham discovered who they would face in the first knockout round.
Utd have dropped into this competition after finishing third in Group H of this season’s Champions League and will face current La Liga leaders, Real Sociedad with the pair having met in the Group Stage of 2013-14 UEFA Champions League in which the Red Devils won at home before being held to a goalless draw in Spain.
Tottenham, Rangers and Leicester have all been handed first-time opposition as Spurs will take on Austria’s Wolfsberger in the latter’s first-ever European knockout tie.
Rangers face a second trip to Belgium after beating Standard Liege in their opening Group D tie in October but this time, Steven Gerrard’s Gers face a difficult test in Royal Antwerp as they look to reach the last 16 for a second consecutive season.
Brendan Rogers’ Leicester will take on Group C’s Slavia Prague in the Foxes’ first-ever European clash against Czech Republic opposition in all competitions.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal breezed through Group B unbeaten but will face a difficult test of their title credentials against Benfica, who have avoided defeat to the Gunners in both of their two previous meetings to prevail 4-2 on aggregate in Second Round of 1991-92 European Cup.
Elsewhere, AC Milan have drawn Red Star Belgrade whilst Napoli face a difficult test against La Liga’s Granada in their quest to advance to the Round of 16.
First Legs will be played on 18 February 2021 with Second Legs held just seven days later on 25 February 2021.
