Elsewhere, Bristol City remain in seventh after Tomas Kalas’ late own goal gifted Millwall a point, having initially led through Pedro Pereira’s tenth minute strike.
Blackburn and Swansea remain close behind in eighth and ninth respectively, following Bradley Johnson’s late equaliser for the hosts in a 2-2 draw at Ewood Park.
Tom Lawrence picked up a first half brace as Derby ran riot in a dominant 3-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday, moving the Rams level on points with the 12th placed Owls but behind on goal difference.
Scott Hogan opened and closed the scoring at St Andrews’ as Birmingham fought back for a 2-2 draw against QPR, having initially seen early second-half goals from Marc Pugh and Jordan Hugill cancel out Hogan’s opener.
Finally, Huddersfield dished out a four goal demolition to Charlton as Karlan Grant scored twice against his former Addicks at the John Smith Stadium.
