2019-20 Premier League: Week 17 – Leicester vs Norwich

After a crazy round of results last weekend, Leicester are now Liverpool’s main title rivals as they welcome relegation battling Norwich to the King Power Stadium.

Depending on what happens at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime, Leicester could have the opportunity to close the gap or retain their eight point gap.

Norwich meanwhile could move to within a point of safety if they can take a shock victory and end the Foxes’ unbeaten nine match run in all competitions.

Leicester have no fresh injury concerns as Matty James continues to be a long-term absentee with a calf injury.

Norwich could have Grant Hanley back from a groin injury which kept him sidelined for the last two months.

Josip Drmic (muscle) and Timm Klose (knee) are still ruled out for the foreseeable future.

Form

Leicester are unbeaten in their last eight league games, scoring twice in each of their last four home games during that run and conceding just twice against Burnley and Everton respectively.

Norwich have taken just four points from their last five games (W1, D1, L3) despite scoring in each of their last four outings.

Stat Attack

  • Leicester are unbeaten in three of their last five meetings against Norwich in all competitions (W3, L2).
  • Norwich have lost their two previous Premier League trips to Leicester by 1-0 results with both goals coming in the second half, losing at Filbert Street in April 1995 then at the King Power Stadium in February 2016.
  • Just seven players from the last Leicester teamsheet to face norwich in February 2016 are still with the club.
  • James Maddison has played a league-high 13 through balls in 15 appearances for Leicester this season.
  • Teemu Pukki has hit 43 shots for Norwich this season, 22 more shots than the 21 produced by Todd Cantwell.

Prediction

Leicester are just flying and their dominant display last Sunday at Aston Villa means that Norwich are going to have to be defensively solid, if they’re to snatch any points from this match.

The Canaries however have been impressive when on the attack so I am going for a score result.

Prediction: Leicester 2-1 Norwich

Result: Leicester 1-1 Norwich
