Swansea City meet Cardiff City at the Liberty Stadium as the Welsh Derby takes centre stage in Sunday’s main Sky Bet Championship match.
Victory could lift Swansea into fourth whilst Cardiff will improve to 12th a win and join the fierce promotion scrap.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesSwansea are set to be without defender, Joe Rodon who has picked up an ankle injury in training.
Aldo Kalulu (ankle) is also sidelined since picking up a similar injury in August and hasn’t featured since.
Cardiff will be without winger, Junior Hoilett due to a hamstring injury picked up in Tuesday’s draw at Millwall.
Leandro Bacuna however is available after overcoming a stomach bug but Sol Bamba is unlikely to be risked as he nears a return from a serious knee injury.
Form
Swansea come into this match with one win in their last seven league games, and have taken just a single point from their last four home games.
Cardiff are winless in their last three matches but have lost just one of their last ten league games, although they have drawn six matches in that time of which four came away from home.
Stat Attack
- Swansea have won just two of their last five meetings with Cardiff in all competitions (W2, L3).
- Only the winning team has scored in each of their last four meetings, with the last occasion in which both teams scored in this fixture coming in April 2010 at Cardiff which the Bluebirds won 2-1.
- Swansea have lost one of their last seven home meetings with Cardiff in all competitions (W4, D2, L1).
Prediction
With both teams out of form lately, this clash is looking quite unpredictable but Swansea need to improve their defensive display after a humiliating midweek performance against Brentford.
Cardiff meanwhile can score goals but just aren’t good at the back, which is an issue that keeps plaguing up in every match so I can see goals in this match.
I ultimately can’t see either team winning here though so am going for a score draw.
Prediction: Swansea City 1-1 Cardiff City
Result: Swansea City 1-0 Cardiff City
