Wigan welcome Nottingham Forest to the DW Stadium in Sunday’s big Sky Bet Championship clash.
Wigan can move further away from the relegation zone with a win whilst Forest will climb back into second with a win.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesSam Morsy is ruled out for Wigan due to an one match ban after picking up his fifth yellow card last time out against Sheffield Wednesday.
Michael Jacobs meanwhile could feature after recovering from a hamstring injury as Gary Roberts and Tom Pearce (back) remain sidelined.
Nottingham Forest will have Ryan Yates available after the midfielder recovered from a knee injury.
Michael Dawson (calf), Alfa Semedo (knock), Samba Sow (hamstring) and Tendayi Darikwa (knee) are still sidelined for Forest.
Form
Wigan have lost just two of their last six league games and are unbeaten in their last three home games.
Forest are unbeaten in their last ten league matches and have dropped points in just one of their last five games, drawing 1-1 in their last away trip at Blackburn.
Stat Attack
- This is Wigan’s 15th meeting with Nottingham Forest in all competitions.
- Wigan are winless in their last six Championship meetings with Forest dating back to September 2014 (D3, L3).
- Forest have never won at the DW Stadium in seven previous visits (D5, L2).
Prediction
Wigan definitely won’t be going for promotion but they do have a great home record in recent seasons, which is going to be key to their survival hopes and particularly against a high flying Forest.
I therefore am expecting a good game but if Forest has carried over their momentum through the international break, they should find a way to break down the Latics and take their first away win at the DW Stadium.
Prediction: Wigan 1-2 Nottingham Forest
Result: Wigan 1-0 Nottingham Forest
