Wolverhampton Wanderers look to continue their recent upturn in fortunes as they welcome Southampton to Molineux.

Wolves will move into the top ten with a win whilst Southampton are looking to move away from the relegation zone with three vital points.

Diogo Jota and Morgan Gibbs-White could feature for Wolves after recovering from respective foot and back injuries.

Pedro Neto is sidelined for another week with a heel injury but Romain Saiss is ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Southampton have no fresh injury concerns but Cedric Soares and Moussa Djenepo are still out with respective calf and muscular injuries.

Form

Wolves are unbeaten in their last three league games and have taken 2-0 wins from their last two league outings, whilst they are unbeaten in their last five across all competitions.

Southampton are winless in their last league games but have scored in their last nine in all competitions, with Danny Ings scoring four goals in his last three matches across all competitions.

Stat Attack

  • Wolves’ six match winning run against Southampton in all competitions was ended in April, when the Saints ran out 3-1 winners at home (W4, D2, L1).
  • Both teams have scored in just two of their last five meetings.
  • Wolves’ Willy Boly has made a league high 31 clearances in seven appearances this season.
  • Out of all players across both teams, Southampton’s Jan Bednarek has produced 18 interceptions which is more than any other player.
  • Wolves’ Rui Patricio and Southampton’s Angus Gunn have both managed to produce two punches in eight appearances this season.

Prediction

This should be an interesting encounter because both teams can score goals but have been inconsistent, which makes me think that this could very well be either a goal fest or goalless draw.

I am however more inclined to think the former given the form of both teams but defence will be crucial to the result, and Wolves do have the better overall defence which should give them a win.

Prediction: Wolves 3-2 Southampton

Result: Wolves 1-1 Southampton
