Arden Motorsport have announced that they will be departing FIA Formula Two at the end of 2019 to ‘explore other avenues.’
The decision comes after a tough season for Arden who enjoyed the highs of taking consecutive Sprint victories in Monaco then France with Anthoine Hubert, who sadly passed away after a tragic accident at Spa Francorchamps.
Arden CEO and Team Principal, Garry Horner released a short statement, saying; “Arden has successfully completed in the premier F1 feeder series for over 20 years and we have now decided to step back from the category in order to explore other avenues.”
Horner however has refused to rule out a return, saying “Never say never…”
Formula Two CEO, Bruno Michel has paid tribute to the team for ‘their involvement and hard work throughout the years.’ whilst also taking the time to wish them ‘many successes in their next endeavours.’
Arden’s F2 entry meanwhile will be taken over by HWA Racelab who currently operate in Formula E and Formula Three.
Arden’s final F2 race weekend will be at Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi across the weekend of 29 November – 1 November with Tatiana Calderon and Artem Markelov driving for the team.
