2019-20 Sky Bet Championship: Week 10 Roundup

A busy round of midweek fixtures saw the Sky Bet Championship lead change hands again.

Leeds reclaimed top spot on Tuesday night after Ezgjan Alioski rifled in what proved to be a 38th minute winner against then leaders – West Brom, only for Swansea to then snatch control of the promotion race as a comeback win at Charlton sent them to the summit.

Jonathan Leko smashed in a second minute deflected cross to give the Addicks an early lead, which only lasted 15 minutes because Yan Dhanda fired in from a deflection to restore parity.

Andre Ayew then flicked in Joe Rodon’s header from a corner to grab a 65th minute winner that sent the Swans back top from Leeds.

Nottingham Forest sit fourth after Joe Lolley rescued them a point at Blackburn whilst braces from Tom Cairney and Aleksandr Mitrovic sent Fulham up to fifth as they took a 4-1 win at Reading.

Preston round out the top six after Josh Harrop’s rebound opener was cancelled out by a Darnell Fisher own goal, as the Lilywhites found themselves held to a draw at Middlesbrough.

Down at the bottom, Stoke met Huddersfield in a massive clash which was settled by a late strike from Juninho Bacuna, as the Curacao international played an one-two with Adama Diakhaby before firing from close range to give the Terriers their first win of the season.

Barnsley stay third bottom as they scrapped their way to a 2-2 draw with Derby at Oakwell.

Aapo Halme headed the Tykes ahead but a Chris Martin strike and Tom Huddlestone penalty sent Derby on course for victory, until Cauley Woodrow poked in a tight low cross from Conor Chaplin to snatch a share of the points.

Elsewhere, Bristol City rose to seventh after Andreas Weimann’s late header snatched them a point at Brentford who had led through a curling 64th minute screamer from Josh Dasilva.

Cardiff dispatched QPR in a 3-0 victory to preserve their unbeaten home record in the league this season, as they climbed to tenth above their visitors.

Hull and Wigan both took surprise home wins as respective goals from Tom Eaves and Anthony Pilkington saw off Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham respectively.

Finally, Callum McManaman struck late on to cancel out Tom Bradshaw’s tap-in opener as Luton held Millwall to a 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road.
