2018-19 Premier League: Week 32 – Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield in a blockbuster Super Sunday clash.

With Manchester City currently back top, this is a must win for Liverpool if they’re to regain the initiative in the title race whilst Spurs know every point is key to their top four hopes.

Liverpool could have four players available after injuries kept them off international duty.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (back), Andrew Robertson (mouth) and Xherdan Shaqiri (groin inflammation) are all available as Naby Keita remains doubtful with an unspecified injury.

Joe Gomez (leg) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee) are both close to first-team returns but won’t be risked here.

Tottenham are without midfielders, Eric Dier and Harry Winks as the pair battle respective muscular and groin injuries.

Serge Aurier could also be another absentee for Spurs after suffering a thigh injury during Ivory Coast’s win against Rwanda in an AFCONs qualifier.

Form

Liverpool enter this game unbeaten in their last 12 across all competitions and have won four of their last five home league games.

Tottenham meanwhile have avoided defeat in two of their last six matches, and have a single point from their last four league games, losing all three away trips in that spell.

Stat Attack

Prediction

Both teams have it all to lose here so I am expecting a good attacking game but Liverpool are yet to lose at home all season, which is quite pivotal given Spurs’ recent dip in form.

Defence however is questionable for both sides after suspect displays before the international break, although Liverpool’s is the more stable.

A part of me therefore can see a 1-1 draw but Liverpool’s attack will be too much to stop as the match wears on.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Jake predicts: Liverpool 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Result: Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur
