This weekend saw the final round of opening Premier League fixtures as teams now take a fortnight off for the international break, so here is a round-up of the action.
Liverpool came into this weekend top of the league ahead of a tough trip to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City.
It was Liverpool who made the brighter start and claimed the lead just 10 minutes in, after Andrew Robertson’s pass found Sadio Mane who tucked it into back of net.
Their second came on stroke of half time when Roberto Firmino headed in a second consecutive corner kick, after the first was cleared.
Embed from Getty ImagesLeicester however pulled one back midway through second half when Allison tried to showboat, only for Kelechi Iheanacho to intercept and set up Rachid Ghezzal to put it away.
In end, Liverpool held on for their fourth consecutive victory and best start to a season since 2013-14 when claimed three wins and a draw from opening four games of that season.
Despite wins for Chelsea and Watford over Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur, neither failed to dislodge The Reds from top spot although all three still maintain 100% records.
On their tenth anniversary since Abu Dhabi United Group took over Manchester City, the Citizens ran out 2-1 winners over Newcastle United to move fourth as the Magpies drop into bottom three.
Manchester United meanwhile corrected the errors of recent performances with a Romelu Lukaku brace to beat 19th placed Burnley 2-0, easing pressure on under-fire manager, Jose Mourinho.

Elsewhere, Southampton claimed their first win of season after beating Crystal Palace with goals from Danny Ings and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Brighton came back from two goals down to snatch a point at home to Fulham through a Glenn Murray double. The Seagulls however could of easily won it though if Pascal Gross had put away a first half penalty following Luciano Vietto’s foul on Murray.
Over in Wales, Arsenal made it back to back league wins after Alexandre Lacazette netted the winner in a 3-2 win over Cardiff City.

Finally, Everton failed to score at least twice in a game for first time this season after they played out a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town.
