2017-18 FA Cup Quarter Finals: Leicester City vs Chelsea

This weekend’s final FA Cup quarter final sees Leicester City welcome Chelsea to King Power Stadium.

Daniel Amartey is set to be Leicester’s only absentee as they expect to name an unchanged side from last weekend’s 4-1 win at West Bromwich Albion.

David Luiz (ankle) and Ross Barkley (hamstring) again remain out for Chelsea.

Willy Caballero could start in goal but Antonio Conte hasn’t confirmed if the Argentinean will get nod over Belgian, Thibaut Courtois.

Leicester enter this clash on a four match unbeaten run since a 5-1 defeat at Manchester City early last month.

At home, Leicester are unbeaten in 2018 with eight goals despite drawing last three home games 1-1.

Chelsea come here with only three wins since start of February but have lost last five away games in all competitions.

That away run of defeats include trips to Manchester United as well as Barcelona last Wednesday.

  • Leicester have never beaten Chelsea in FA Cup, despite needing replays on two occasions.
  • Chelsea have won the FA Cup on last three occasions when beat Leicester en route to final.
  • Leicester last progressed to semi finals in 1981-82 season and haven’t won any of their three quarter finals this century.
  • Willian has been involved in 17 of Chelsea’s goals in his last 19 starts, scoring 12 and assisting five.

Leicester know that if they want European football next season then this is their main chance.

Omens might be against the Foxes but Chelsea are struggling to produce goals from outside the front three in 2018, despite Marcos Alonso scoring twice in that time.

In my opinion, if Leicester can get themselves higher up and creating problems, they could do a job here via extra time.

Prediction: Leicester City 2-1 Chelsea AET

Result: Leicester City 1-2 AET
