Today, Middlesbrough make the long journey down to Griffin Park and will look to continue their solid form against a side who are hoping to make a late play-off push.
Daniel Ayala is an injury doubt for Middlesbrough ahead of today’s game and the Spanish defender will face a late fitness test to see whether he’s alright to play.
Tony Pulis welcomes back captain Grant Leadbitter, ahead of the game Pulis told MFC Official: “Grant is fine and ready to go, which is a great addition to the squad having your captain back,” Pulis said.
“He’s a good captain and a good person.
“Clayts (Adam Clayton) obviously came in for him and I thought he had his best game for us last weekend so there’s a nice dilemma there.”
Brentford on the other hand will welcome back Jozefzoon who has recovered from a foot injury and Dalsgaard is back after his partner had a baby, but Andreas Bjelland and Rico Henry remain out.
Henry picked up an injury in the reverse fixture which finished 2-2 at the Riverside back in September.
After a third win on bounce last week against Barnsley 3-1, Middlesbrough made sure they gave themselves a two point cushion in sixth place.
Below Middlesbrough are Sheffield United on 59 points in seventh place and Brentford sit in 11th place on 53 points, eight points behind today’s opponents.
A win today for Brentford would see them cut the gap down to the play-offs to five points providing results do their way, so today is a massive game for the London club.
- Brentford – In 2018, over half of the Championship goals conceded by Brentford have been from set pieces (7 of 13, 54%).
- Boro – Middlesbrough have won their last five trips to Griffin Park in all competitions, since a 2-1 FA Cup defeat in January 1964.
I think today’s game will be closer then most people expect and I reckon Brentford will give Boro a good test and play some good football.
However, I think Middlesbrough will continue their winning run today and make it four wins on the bounce.
Prediction: Brentford 0-2 Middlesbrough
Result: Brentford 1-1 Middlesbrough
