David Wagner and his men travel to the London Stadium tonight, to face a struggling West Ham United on MNF.
Both clubs have had different starts to this season, following the first three games. Huddersfield are high-flying , while the Hammers are still to taste victory.
Even three games in, this is probably considered a ‘must win’ fixture for West Ham manager, Slaven Bilic. After suffering three consecutive league defeats, Bilic must feel his job is under threat.
David Wagner’s position is a much different situation.
The German is somebody, Huddersfield fans will never want to leave after achieving the impossible last season. He then guided the Terriers to a magnificent start in their debut Premier League campaign.
Difficult to call
It’s hard to predict how this game will go.
Will the Hammers be rejuvenated after the international break? Or will they still be licking their wounds?
One thing for sure. The international break will not have an effect on Huddersfield (well, a negative one, anyway.)
Most clubs had players away on international duty or gave them a break.
The Terriers and vast majority of their squad were over in Germany for a fitness game. Its things like that, that makes Wagner and his players steps ahead of their opponents and why they have been so successful over last couple of years.
Hard work pays off and all that.
For Huddersfield, this is perfect time to face West Ham.
With confidence low at the London Stadium, all the pressure will be on the West Ham players and Slaven Bilic.
Huddersfield can enjoy the game. If they could find an early goal, it will create a hostile/nervous atmosphere.
I think Huddersfield will surprise the Hammers with a goal early in the first half, and West Ham will equalise midway through the second half.
