Owls vs Brummies

Will the Owls be hooting in delight tonight?

Tonight sees two play off contenders go head to head at Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday currently occupy the final play off spot but face a Birmingham City side keen to get back in the hunt for a play off spot.

Team News

The Owls could be without Glenn Loovens and Gary Hooper due to  knee and thigh injuries respectively.

Steven Fletcher is still suspended but Sam Hutchison is expected to return after serving his ban.

Will Buckley is set to return to the Wednesday fold after two months on sidelines with a shoulder injury.

Gianfranco Zola is going to be missing quite a few players because of injury. They’re;

  • Michael Morrison – recovering from hernia surgery
  • Ryan Shotton – Groin
  • Jacques Maghoma – Knee
  • Clayton Donaldson – Ankle

Tactics

The match looks evenly matched at the front because Wednesday have hit 34 goals to Birmingham’s 32.

The addition of Jordan Rhodes from Middlesbrough will allow Carlos Carvalhal an extra option to push further forward if want more goals.

Defence wise, Carvalhal’s side is best placed after letting in just 28 goals to the visitor’s 39.

This record is the fourth best in the Championship and can’t see them conceding at home tonight to a side that are shaky in defence.

Prediction

Expect Sheffield Wednesday to grind out another 1-0 win here.

Prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Birmingham City

Result: Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 Birmingham City
