2026-27 Premier League: Week Nine – Newcastle vs Everton

Newcastle host Everton in a mid-table Premier League encounter at St James’ Park.

Victory would lift Newcastle up to seventh in the table, whilst Everton can leapfrog the Magpies and go seventh themselves with a win.

Team News

William Osula is ruled out for Newcastle after he suffered an ankle injury during their 3-1 Carabao Cup exit against Everton on Merseyside.

Matias Fernandez Pardo (illness) and Lewis Miley (hamstring) face late fitness checks, but Ewen Jaouen (hamstring) and Tino Livramento (knock) remain absent.

Everton will welcome Jack Grealish back into contention after he missed their Carabao Cup win over the Magpies due to a disciplinary issue, having initially been set to return from illness in that match.

Jarrad Branthwaite too had been set to return from illness in that match, but missed out due to concussion protocols and is now expected to also return on Tyneside.

When is Kick-Off?

Newcastle host Everton at St James’ Park on Monday 2 November at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Newcastle have won just one of their last six league meetings against Everton (W1, D2, L3).
  • Everton have claimed seven points in their last three league visits to Newcastle (W2, D1).
  • Newcastle have scored and conceded six goals apiece in their four league games at home so far this season (W1, D2, L1).
  • Everton have lost their last two league matches by 2-0 results (L2).

Prediction

Playing the same opposition twice in the space of four days is never easy and particularly when their first clash was a cup tie, yet Newcastle’s defeat in that game should serve as motivation to atone at home and be more clinical plus defensively tighter than they were on Merseyside.

Everton meanwhile do have the better recent form in this fixture and will be feeling confident of getting another win off the back of their cup victory, yet they can’t afford to underestimate the fight and tidier composure that Newcastle will bring on their own turf.

David Moyes’ Toffees though have lost both of their last two league games by 2-0 results so this is a chance for them to reignite their push for a top-ten spot, but Newcastle should be much improved in knowledge of where they went wrong in the cup clash.

A draw therefore feels like a fair guess if Matthias Jaissle’s Magpies do raise their game.

Prediction: Newcastle 1-1 Everton
