2026-27 Premier League: Week Nine – Bournemouth vs Leeds

Bournemouth host Leeds in a Halloween mid-table clash in the Premier League. 

Victory would put Bournemouth as high as sixth for at least a few hours if the following scenarios also play out:

• Sixth-placed Brentford lose at home to Nottingham Forest.
• Hull and Ipswich draw in their clash at the MKM Stadium.

Leeds meanwhile can climb to fifth with a win if Chelsea lose at lunchtime then Brentford suffer defeat in another of the mid-afternoon kick-offs.

 

Team News

Bournemouth have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 3-0 Carabao Cup fourth-round victory at home to Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.

Alex Scott (quad), Alex Toth (hamstring) and Julian Araujo (thigh) are still ruled out.

Leeds could welcome defender, Nico Elvedi back after he missed their 0-0 draw at Sunderland last weekend due to illness.

Dan James (back) and Anton Stach (foot) face late fitness checks, but Joe Rodon (hamstring) and Mateo Joseph (ACL) remain absent.

• Leeds are yet to win away at Bournemouth in the Premier League (D1, L1), having lost 4-1 in April 2023 then drew 2-2 in April 2026.
• This is Bournemouth’s first meeting against Leeds to be played on Halloween in all competitions.

Prediction

Currently unbeaten in five matches without conceding – four of those five games ended in 3-0 wins, Bournemouth certainly have finally found their feet and momentum under Marco Rose but this is going to be a tough test that they can approach with confidence.

Leeds meanwhile have developed a habit of drawing games which could be key come end of season even though they should be comfortably safe, but they realistically could be higher if had been more clinical and their wasteful end product in tricky conditions at Sunderland was a frustrating watch.

On paper, I feel like this could be a close game but Leeds ideally need to score first because if not then I expect Bournemouth to take a routine win.
