Under-fire Manchester United face Bournemouth in a massive clash in the scrap for Premier League survival.
Victory could lift Man Utd as high as seventh if results elsewhere swing in their favour, whilst Bournemouth can leapfrog the Red Devils with a win and go as high as 11th.
Team News
Man Utd manager, Michael Carrick has refused to rule out dropping captain – Bruno Fernandes after the midfielder publicly criticised his tactics after their 4-1 Champions League defeat at Como in midweek.
Ayden Heaven (illness), Lisandro Martinez (thigh) and Marcus Rashford (fitness) aren’t expected to be in the squad.
Benjamin Sesko (shin), Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw (both unspecified), Tom Heaton, Patrick Dorgu (both hamstring) and Manuel Ugarte (knee) are still absent.
Bournemouth will be without Alex Toth after he suffered a hamstring injury during their 3-0 Europa League win over AC Milan.
Eli Junior Kroupi (foot) could make his first appearance of the season, but Alex Scott (quad) and Julian Araujo (thigh) are still ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Man Utd host Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday 25 October at 2pm BST, live on Sky Sports Main Event in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Man Utd are winless in their last six league meetings against Bournemouth (D4, L2).
- Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last three league visits to Man Utd (W2, D1).
- Man Utd have lost two of their last three home games against Bournemouth by 3-0 results, except for a 4-4 draw in December 2025.
- Youri Tielemans has drawn more fouls than any other Utd player in the top flight this season (13).
- Evanilson has been involved in six of Bournemouth’s nine league goals this season – having produced two goals and four assists in seven appearances.
Prediction
You seriously have to ponder what the absolute rock bottom base of Man Utd’s barrel is because they were just passively toothless at Como, and it is worrying that it wasn’t until Como lifted their foot off the gas that they began to show some attacking quality.
Bournemouth meanwhile have registered eight goals and three wins without conceding in their last three matches which will give them confidence coming into this game, especially at a ground where they have had Utd comfortably by the jaw in two of their last three trips.
Fernandes’ public criticism of Carrick though was frankly unacceptable because that should of been handled privately and just exposes the fractures within the club, and I honestly can see Bournemouth winning this comfortably such is their confidence and momentum.
Prediction: Man Utd 0-2 Bournemouth
