Matteo De Palo has completed a switch from Trident to MP Motorsport for the 2027 FIA Formula Three season.

De Palo’s switch for his second season in the category comes after a difficult rookie season at Trident saw him finish 24th in the standings with seven points, which came from his sole points-scoring result of the season in the British Sprint at Silverstone.

He also won the British Feature Race but was subsequently disqualified after his rear diffuser was found to be below the minimum height requirement.

“I’m really excited to join MP Motorsport for my second year in FIA F3”, commented De Palo who feels that MP Motorsport found momentum at the end of this season, and is now keen to help the Dutch team build on that form going into the 2027 campaign.

“Especially in the second half of this season, they were among the teams to beat, finishing the year on a high with victory, so I aim to do my part in maintaining that kind of form into 2027.

“It’s a Dutch team, but with an Italian flavour on the engineering side – I like that! The team is renowned for their welcoming atmosphere, so I’m sure I will feel right at home from the start.”

MP Motorsport Team Principal, Sander Dorsman meanwhile is “delighted” to sign De Palo as he considers the 18-year-old Italian as someone who can take a big step forward in his second F3 season.

““Looking back on his career, having competed with him in F4 Spanish and the Formula Regional European Championship, I’m pleased that he’s on our side now, as he’s always been a fierce competitor.

“I’m convinced that he will put his year of F3 experience to good use to help us to continue our forward trajectory in the championship.”
