2026-27 UEFA Nations League: League A4 – Wales vs Norway

Wales face Norway in a massive League A4 encounter in the 2026-27 UEFA Nations League.

Victory by two goals or more would lift Wales off the foot of the table, whilst Norway can stay second with a win.

Team News

Wales have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 2-0 loss to Denmark.

Norway could be without midfielder, Martin Odegaard after he missed training on Tuesday (29 September) due to an ankle injury, which he suffered during their 2-1 defeat to Portugal.

When is Kick-Off?

Wales host Norway at Cardiff City Stadium on Thursday 1 October at 7:45pm BST, live on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • This is Wales’ first Nations League meeting against Norway.
  • Norway have won just one of six previous visits to Wales in all competitions (W1, D2, L3).
  • Wales have kept two clean sheets in six previous home games against Norway.
  • Connor Roberts has converted both of his two shots for Wales onto target in his sole appearance so far in this Nations League campaign.
  • Norway’s Erling Haaland has converted three of his eight shots on target into goals.

Prediction

Without a goal from their opening two group matches and having lacked a clinical final touch in a pretty lacklustre defeat away to Denmark, this is realistically a must-win for Wales if want to keep themselves in the mix to avoid relegation back to League B.

Norway though will of been disappointed to had not snatched a draw against Portugal but with their squad depth, Odegaard shouldn’t be too large a miss if he doesn’t start as there are other players who can step up and Erling Haaland crucially is in form despite the drama surrounding Manchester City.

Whilst it would be good to see Wales tighten up and show more attacking edge, I do think that Norway will be too strong on current form and quality.

Prediction: Wales 0-2 Norway
