2026-27 UEFA Nations League: League A4 – Denmark vs Wales

Denmark and Wales both seek to bounce back from opening defeats in their UEFA Nations League A4 group.

Victory by two goals or more could put Denmark top for a few hours before Norway meet Portugal, whilst bottom-placed Wales can leapfrog the Danes and potentially go top themselves if score at least three goals and win by a minimum two-goal margin.

Team News

Denmark have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 3-2 away loss to Norway.

Wales too have no fresh injury concerns to report ahead of this match after a 1-0 away defeat against Portugal, with manager – Craig Bellamy expected to rotate as Dan James and Kieffer Moore amongst those pushing for a start here.

When is Kick-Off?

Denmark host Wales at Parken Stadium on Sunday 27 September at 6pm CEST (5pm BST), live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Denmark won their two previous Nations League meetings against Wales in the 2018-19 edition (W2).
  • Wales lost 2-0 in their only previous Nations League trip to Denmark in September 2018.
  • Denmark have kept just one clean sheet in their last three completed matches (D2, L1), with their friendly against Ukraine in June abandoned in the 78th minute due to Christian Eriksen’s collapse.
  • Wales are yet to win in 2026 across all competitions (D3, L2).

Prediction

Having recovered from 2-0 down to level before conceding a 74th-minute winner away to Norway in an otherwise tight game, Denmark know that this is now a match that they need to ideally win if want to state their intent to challenge for a top-two finish in the group.

Wales meanwhile were naturally going to be outplayed away to Portugal as evidenced by just one of five shots converted onto target, but they did well defensively to limit the Portuguese to a narrow single-goal victory so I now want to see them show more attacking flair in a winnable match.

I however do think that James and Moore must both start here because this is the sort of game that those two are needed from the start if want to win, but Denmark though won’t make this easy so I expect a difficult test and a point might well be achievable.

Prediction: Denmark 1-1 Wales

Result: Denmark 2-0 Wales
