2026-27 Premier League: Week Three – Man City vs Coventry

Manchester City look to consolidate their Premier League title push against Coventry City.

Victory will keep City top of the table, whilst Coventry can climb out of the relegation zone with a win.

Team News

Allan, Iliman Ndiaye and Enzo Fernandez are set for their Man City debuts.

Matheus Nunes is set to return after he missed City’s 4-1 win at Crystal Palace.

Jeremy Doku is still sidelined with a calf injury.

Coventry could welcome midfielder, Frank Onyeka back into contention after he missed their 1-0 home defeat against Hull due to a hip injury.

Bobby Thomas (cramp) is set to feature but Haji Wright (quad), Kaine Kesler-Hayden (hamstring) and Luke Woolfenden (knee) remain sidelined.

New loan signing, Stephen Mfuni is ineligible to feature against his parent club, whilst Yann Gboho is ineligible due to a delayed visa approval.

When is Kick-Off?

Man City host Coventry at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 5 September at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Prediction

Having clinically beat Palace last weekend in a display where their final touches were much sharper, City now will be licking their lips at this fixture because they are absolute favourites and I really don’t see them losing this if they play at their best.

Coventry meanwhile were much more solid against Hull but a mixture of poor shot conversion and defending counter-attacks cost them at least a draw, but this feels like an impossible ask so I expect them to go defensive and try to minimise their loss.

I however do think that this will be a simple one-sided game with ease.

Prediction: Man City 4-0 Coventry

Result: Man City 1-0 Coventry
