Brighton & Hove Albion look to bounce back from their first defeat of the season as they face Leeds United.
Victory could put Brighton back onto the summit if results elsewhere align in their favour, whilst Leeds could go top themselves with a win if other results swing in their favour.
Team News
Femi Azeez could make his debut for Brighton after his move from Millwall on Deadline Day.
Yasin Ayari (ankle) and Georginio Rutter (knock) faces a late fitness test.
Yankuba Minteh (leg), Stefanos Tzimas (knee), Kaoru Mitoma (hamstring), Jack Hinshelwood and Evan Ferguson (both ankle) remain absent.
Leeds will be without Joe Rodon after he suffered a hamstring injury during their 1-1 draw at home to Brentford.
Mateo Joseph (ACL) and Illa Gruev (knee) remain absent.
Melvin Bard and Jean-Matteo Bahoya could make their debuts after joining on loan on Deadline Day from Nice and Eintracht Frankfurt respectively.
When is Kick-Off?
Brighton host Leeds at AMEX Stadium on Saturday 5 September at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Brighton have lost just one of eight previous Premier League meetings against Leeds (W4, D3, L1).
- Leeds are yet to win away at Brighton in the Premier League (D1, L3).
- Brighton are yet to concede at home against Leeds in the Premier League, during which they scored six goals in three of those four home matches.
- Brighton’s Diego Gomez has converted three of his eight shots onto target without scoring in two league appearances.
- Leeds’ four goals in all competitions so far this season were scored after half time.
Prediction
Having just been outplayed by a fierce Chelsea attack but still battled to a 4-3 loss, Brighton can take heart from their fighting spirit and look to immediately bounce back as they’re yet to concede at home to Leeds in the Premier League – which is a good psychological boost.
Leeds however were lucky that they didn’t get battered by Brentford in the first half through some resilient defensive work, which they continued in a more see-saw second half to snatch a clinical draw so I would like to see more of that grit if want to stop Brighton.
Either way I can see a good game unfolding but unless Leeds can overcome their goalscoring hoodoo at the AMEX, I think that Brighton will routinely nick this.
Prediction: Brighton 2-0 Leeds
Result: Brighton 1-1 Leeds
