Left winger, Mykhailo Mudryk has joined Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
Having been suspended due to doping allegations in December 2024 and subsequently given a four-year ban, Mudryk successfully appealed his ban in late July and went on to make his return in a pre-season friendly for Chelsea against Juventus.
Chelsea subsequently decided to loan him out in order to give him a chance at maximising his game time, which led to interest from Brentford and Leeds before Spurs agreed a loan deal with a £75m option to sign him permanently next summer.
The 25-year-old Ukrainian is excited at the move and reuniting with Roberto De Zerbi who previously was his manager at Shakhtar Donetsk in the 2021-22 season.
“It’s a great feeling. I can’t wait to start training and playing for the Club, and I’m so excited to be reunited with Roberto De Zerbi.
“I’m a player who brings speed and creativity, and I want to help in both the offensive and defensive areas. I want to make the fans excited.
“I can see it’s a strong squad here with good players, and I’m looking forward to sharing a pitch and special moments with them.”
De Zerbi added that he has confidence that Mudryk will make an impact in North London but iterated that he will demand the best version of the winger.
“Having worked with Misha earlier in his career, I know exactly what he can bring to our team.
“He has the quality to change a game with his speed and ability in one-vs-one situations, and is an exciting, attacking talent.
“I will demand a lot from Misha and it is our job to help him find the best version of himself. If we do that then he can become a very important player for us. I am very happy he chose to come here, and I cannot wait to work with him again.”
Should Mudryk’s loan deal be made permanent, he will leave Chelsea having scored 10 goals in 73 appearances.
