Nottingham Forest have signed right-back, Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace for £22m.
Munoz’s arrival at the City Ground has reunited him with his former manager, Oliver Glasner, having won the FA Cup, Community Shield and UEFA Conference League together at Palace before the Austrian left in June when his contract expired.
Glasner however wanted to bring the 30-year-old to Forest and after extensive negotiations, Palace accepted a £22m fee for Munoz, who has signed a three-year contract until June 2029 with option for a further year and will wear the number 27 shirt.
Munoz is “excited” to make the move and help Forest achieve success after they reached the semi-finals of FA Cup and UEFA Europa League in the last two seasons.
“I’m really excited because I can see so much talent, Forest is a team with great players, great qualities and great skills on the pitch, I can’t wait to get out there so I can help my new teammates and I think that we’re going to do great things.
“The first thing is that this is a winning club. I think that when this is the expectation, the mentality, both for the management and the technical team, and for the players, this makes it special.
“It is a club that’s fought hard in recent years, it has competed hard, it got to the semi-finals of the Europa League and I think it has even greater objectives for the future, and really this is what I like about Forest, and that’s why I decided to come here.”
Forest’s Chief Football Officer, George Syrianos added: “Daniel is a player who has consistently demonstrated his quality at the highest level, and we are delighted to bring him to Nottingham Forest.
“Daniel has performed strongly in the Premier League and in European competition, and we believe he has the mentality and ambition to make a significant contribution to the club.”
Munoz began his career at Aguilas Doradas where he graduated through their academy to score three goals in 94 appearances between 2017-19, before he spent two seasons at Atletico Nacional in which he netted eight goals in 33 appearances.
His performances led Belgium’s Genk to sign him and he went on to produce 19 goals in 148 appearances and win the 2020-21 Belgian Cup across a three-and-a-half year spell, which culminated in a move to Palace in January 2024 just weeks before Glasner arrived at Palace to replace Roy Hodgson.
Munoz eventually scored 11 goals in 109 appearances for the Eagles during which he contributed to three major pieces of silverware, with Palace Chairman – Steve Parish wishing him well for the future as a club legend.

At international level, Munoz has scored five goals in 51 senior caps for Colombia since his debut in 2021.
