2024-25 Premier League: Week Eight – Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

Nottingham Forest host struggling Crystal Palace at the City Ground.

Victory will lift Forest up to eighth in the table, whilst Palace can move out of the relegation zone with a win – albeit at Ipswich’s expense.

Team News

James Ward-Prowse is suspended for Forest after his red card in their 1-1 draw at Chelsea before the international break.

Matz Sels (adductor) is available but Ibrahim Sangare (hamstring), Morgan Gibbs-White and Danilo (both ankle) remain sidelined.

Palace will be without Matt Turner who is ineligible to face his parent club, so Remi Matthews will deputise as second-choice goalkeeper.

Daniel Munoz (adductor) and Adam Wharton (groin) could be in contention.

Cheick Doucoure (toe), Chadi Riad (knee), Chris Richards (hamstring), Matheus Franca (adductor) and Rob Holding (personal) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Forest host Palace at the City Ground on Monday 21 October at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Forest are yet to lose to Palace in the Premier League (W3, D5).
  • Palace are winless in four previous Premier League trips to Forest (D2, L2).
  • Four of Forest’s five draws against Palace in the Premier League ended in a 1-1 result, except for a goalless draw at Selhurst Park last season.
  • Forest’s two league goals at home this season were scored by Chris Wood (D2, L1).
  • Palace are without a clean sheet in this season’s top-flight (D3, L4).

Prediction

Having enjoyed a solid start to the campaign, Forest have to view this game as winnable given their current form whilst their low block defence definitely troubled Chelsea, yet a draw was a fair outcome against the Blues’ strong attack.

Palace meanwhile have disappointed but although they lost to Liverpool, there was enough promise to build upon if they can start to find their end product and more stability in defence.

This Premier League fixture though has often been tight so the first goal could be key, but I can see both teams getting something if Oliver Glasner’s Eagles can unlock their spark.

Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-1 Crystal Palace

Result: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Crystal Palace
