Haiti forward, Wilson Isidor has signed a new four-year contract at Sunderland until June 2030.
Since his arrival from Zenit St Petersburg on an initial loan, Isidor has scored 19 goals in 82 appearances – of which 12 goals came in his first season as he helped the Black Cats regain promotion to the Premier League via the Championship Play-Offs.
He then netted seven goals last season as Sunderland finished seventh to achieve Europa League qualification for this season.
Sunderland consequently opted to tie down the forward to a new four-year contract until June 2030, and the 26-year-old is “very happy” to extend his stay on Wearside as he vowed that he wants to achieve more success and memories.
“This Club has given me some great memories already, and I feel there is still a lot more to achieve here.
“Playing in the Premier League and representing Haiti at the World Cup have been special moments for me, and now I’m focused on continuing to improve, helping the team and giving everything I can for the supporters.”
Isidor added that he is hopeful that he “… can continue to develop with all the European games, cup games and Premier League,” and score more goals to reward the club’s belief in him.
“I want to score more this year, and that’s why I think the Club believes in me. It’s an amazing time to be a Sunderland player.”
Sunderland’s Director of Football, Florent Ghisolfi added: “Wilson has been an important part of the journey this Club has been on, from fighting for promotion to establishing ourselves back in the Premier League.
“What represents Sunderland is his attitude and commitment to the team. Whether he starts the game or comes from the bench to make an impact, he always gives everything he has. That mentality and pride are an important part of our identity.
“He has already grown a lot with us, but he is still young and there is more work to do and more progress to make. We are proud that Wilson wants to continue this journey with Sunderland, and we are looking forward to seeing him keep developing and contributing to what we are building together.”
