Brighton & Hove Albion have signed forward, Promise David on a season-long loan from Union Saint-Gilloise.
The 25 year-old Canadian forward’s move has come after two successful seasons at Union Saint-Gilloise, where he scored 39 goals in 78 appearances, followed by two goals in four appearances this season meaning that he has netted 41 goals in 82 total appearances.
Brighton’s Sporting Director, Mike Cave explained that the club had been monitoring David’s progress for a period of time and believes that his goalscoring record and physicality makes him a worthy loan signing.
“Promise is someone we have been watching for some time, he is an out-and-out striker who possesses outstanding physical attributes and a track record of scoring goals.
“His experience at international level and in European competition will hopefully prove valuable this season.
“At 25, he’s entering his prime playing years and we’re excited to see him continue to develop in our environment.”
Brighton has an option to sign him next summer for an undisclosed transfer fee.
At international level, David has scored four goals in 14 appearances for Canada and was part of their squad at this summer’s FIFA World Cup, where the tournament co-hosts exited at the Round of 16 stage.
