Maidstone United have signed midfielder, Alex Stepien-Iwumene on a half-season loan from Bromley until January 2027.
Stepien-Iwumene’s loan move marks his third loan spell away from Bromley after he spent the second half of last season with Chelmsford City then Cray Wanderers across which he made 14 appearances in combined total.
Maidstone manager, Craig Fagan has welcomed the arrival of Stepien-Iwumene who will add extra quality to their midfield in the first half of the season, whilst thankful of Bromley for entrusting the club to have him on loan.
“”Alex is a player we’re really pleased to bring into the group. He’s a talented young midfielder who has had a very good footballing education and already has experience of playing at this level.
“He gives us something different in the middle of the pitch. He’s got a good physical presence, he’s comfortable on the ball and, importantly, he’s hungry to come here, play games and make an impact.
“We’d like to thank Bromley for trusting us with his development. We’re looking forward to working with Alex and hopefully it will be a really positive loan for everyone involved.”
Stepien-Iwumene added in an YouTube interview on Maidstone’s website that he is pleased to be part of the club and has vowed to add physicality and aggression.
“Yeah, it’s been great, obviously. Manager’s been good. Set-up is great here as well. All the lads are welcoming. so yeah nothing but positive so far.”
“Yeah, hopefully it’ll be a good season and it’ll be good while I’m here. I think I’m quite physical as well and quite aggressive, so hopefully it will suit me, yeah.”
The 21-year-old added that he is prepared to play wherever Fagan wants him to, but expressed a preference for defensive midfield.
“Yeah, a bit of both really, but I prefer to be defensive midfielder, just cutting out any opposition attacks and stuff, but also like to get the play moving.”
Last season saw Stepien-Iwumene make five appearances for Bromley’s first-team in their promotion and League Two title-winning season, which left him happy to have gained experience in that type of situation.
“Yeah, it was great, great experience to be a part of it around great players, great managers, and yeah it was very good, very good experience for me.”
