Italy’s Como have signed England defender, Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea in a £30.8m transfer.
Chalobah’s move to Como has ended his near two-decade stint at Chelsea where he graduated through their academy to register eight goals in 151 first-team appearances since his senior debut in 2021 UEFA Super Cup, which the Blues won 6-5 on penalties against Villarreal after a 1-1 draw.
Como has paid an initial £25.7m fixed fee for the 27-year-old whilst there is a further £5.1m in add-ons taking the total fee to £30.8m, whilst Chelsea have maintained a sell-on clause in the deal if Chalobah should be sold during his time at the Italian club.
Upon completing his move, Chalobah told Como’s website that he is proud to become part of a rising team and reunite with ex Chelsea teammate, Cesc Fàbregas.

Fàbregas added: “Trevoh is an important signing for us and a player who represents the level of ambition we have at this club. He has competed and won at the highest level, but he is also hungry to begin a new chapter and continue improving.
“He gives us strength, speed and personality in defence, as well as the technical quality to build from the back. He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como.”
Chalobah began his career at Chelsea and his first involvement at senior level came in May 2018 as an unused substitute in the Blues’ FA Cup Final triumph over Manchester United.
He then spent the next three seasons on loan at Ipswich, Huddersfield and Lorient where he scored five goals in 112 combined appearances, before he returned to Chelsea in summer 2021 and became a first-team regular.
He however spent the first half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Crystal Palace which saw him impress with three goals in 14 appearances, which led Chelsea to recall him due to a defensive crisis mid-season.
At international level, Chalobah represents England and has made two appearances to date – having made his debut in June 2025 in a 3-1 friendly loss to Senegal, before his second appearance came as a substitute in England’s 6-4 third-place play-off victory over France at this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
He however wasn’t initially selected by his former Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel for the squad until Tino Livramento withdrew due to injury, which paved the way for him to be controversially called up as his replacement because he is a centre-back whereas Livramento was a full-back.
