Manchester United Women have parted company with manager, Marc Skinner by mutual consent after five years.
Skinner replaced Casey Stoney in July 2021 and oversaw two top-three Women’s Super League finishes plus led them to the Women’s FA Cup title in 2023-24 season, whilst their best League Cup finish under him came last season when they lost to Chelsea in the final.
Utd bosses however have decided to make a change of manager to head the team in a fresh direction, but thanked Skinner for his “significant contribution” in a club statement.
“Marc Skinner has departed his role as head coach of Manchester United Women by mutual agreement.
“Appointed in 2021, Marc led United to four domestic cup finals in four seasons, winning the club’s first major honour in women’s football with the 2024 FA Cup.
“During his tenure, United also finished runners-up in the 2022–23 Women’s Super League, securing qualification for the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.
“Last season, the team reached its first League Cup final and the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
“Marc leaves having made a significant contribution to the continued progress of Manchester United Women. The club places on record its sincere thanks for his professionalism, commitment and dedication throughout his time at United, and wishes him every success in the future.
