Croatian defender, Josko Gvardiol has signed a new five-year contract at Manchester City until June 2031.
Gvardiol’s new contract comes after a successful three years with 13 goals and 6 assists in 122 appearances at City following his arrival from RB Leipzig in August 2023, in which he has claimed six trophies;

- 1 x FA Community Shield
- 1 x UEFA Super Cup
- 1 x FIFA Club World Cup
City and Gvardiol this summer agreed terms on a fresh five-year contract which will run until June 2031, with his original contract having been set to expire in 2028 albeit with a 12-month extension option attached to his initial contract.
Following confirmation of his new contract, Gvardiol explained that he has enjoyed his time at City and wants to achieve more success with the club.
“As soon as I knew City wanted to renew my contract, I felt straight away it was what I wanted.
“The City fans have been unbelievable with me from day one – and the club provide absolutely everything for players. It’s the best club in the world to be at.
“I have felt so much love and respect during my three years here and I don’t take that for granted.
“The players we have here are amazing. This is a world-class squad that is young and full of potential. I truly believe we will have a lot of success in the coming years.”
City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana added: “Josko is a player this Club really believes in. He is young, an outstanding professional and already one of the best defenders in the world.
