Tranmere Rovers have completed the quadruple signings of Tom Ince, Olly Scott, Charlie Veevers and Jack McEvilly on free transfers.
Midfielder, Ince was the first player to be officially announced as he signed a two-year contract, having started his career on Merseyside at Liverpool where he made a single appearance in September 2010, before he was loaned to Notts County two months later in his only senior season at Anfield.
He then went on to play for Blackpool, Crystal Palace, Hull, Nottingham Forest, Derby, Huddersfield, Stoke, Luton, Reading and most recently Watford, where he scored 11 goals in 81 appearances in the last three seasons, and amassed 114 goals in 544 total appearances.
Speaking to the club’s website after signing, Ince described the return to Merseyside as like coming back to his footballing beginning, albeit at Tranmere.
It’s a great feeling, bit full circle for me. I’m looking forward to it.
“It’s always great when you come to a club like this. The good thing about it for me is that I have that hunger and that desire still. I think that’s what’s allowed me to have the career that I’ve been able to have, the amount of games I’ve been able to play and the level I’ve been able to reach.”
Left-back, Scott was next to sign but on an one-year contract after a successful trial following his release from Aldershot after three years, having previously played for Blyth Spartans, Consett AFC and King’s Lynn Town beforehand.
Following his arrival, Scott spoke of his pride at securing a contract with the club until next summer as he vowed to fight for game time, goals and assists.
“I’m absolutely buzzing. I just can’t wait for the season to start and play in front of all the fans and a packed stadium.
“I want to get games, goals and assists, but also help out defensively and get clean sheets.”
Winger, Veevers was the third signing as he steps up to senior football for the first time following spells at Manchester United, Swansea and Burnley within their academy setups.
The 21-year-old is therefore excited to make the move up to professional first-team action as he told the club’s website upon signing an one-year contract.
“It feels great. I’m buzzing, very happy to be here. Obviously, it’s a massive club, a good fanbase, and I just can’t wait to get going at the stadium.”
“I want to help the team as much as I can and get some wins under our belt.”
Centre-back, McEvilly too has joined from Burnley as he gets his first taste of senior football on an one-year contract, as he explained that he is relishing the chance to fight for first-team action.
“I’m delighted to be here. I can’t wait; I’m looking forward to the challenge.
“I’m hoping to play as many minutes as possible and, ultimately, put a smile on the fans’ faces and get the Club where it should be.”
