Andrea Kimi Antonelli is guaranteed to head into the mid-season hiatus sat top of the drivers’ standings after he extended his title lead over Lewis Hamilton to 45 points, with Antonelli’s Mercedes teammate – George Russell a further five points behind in third.

- Given the high downforce nature of the Hungaroring, this circuit could well suit Ferrari who need a clean race if want to reignite their title hopes.
- Hungaroring is a circuit where it is difficult to overtake unless tyre degradation comes into play, which means that Qualifying could well be crucial in determining the likely race result.
- This weekend marks a chance for teams to bring upgrades to their cars so maximising practice time will be key to understanding the new parts, which could well shake up the pecking order come Qualifying given how difficult it is to overtake in the race.
- Hot track temperatures are forecast all weekend which could well place further importance on tyre management with less grip on the track surface, although there is a chance of rain on Sunday but more likely post-race at time of writing.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc began the race from pole last year but after those on a two-stop strategy made their second stops, he lost his lead to Piastri on lap 51, but the Aussie was fended off by his McLaren teammate – Lando Norris who took victory on an one-stopper by 0.698 seconds.
