F1 2019: Hungarian Grand Prix Preview

After a fantastic July, can Max Verstappen continue his form as F1 heads to Hungary this weekend?

Just days after an epic German Grand Prix, Formula One makes its final stop before a four week summer break as teams touch down in Budapest for the 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton is the most successful driver around this track with six victories but after Germany, we could very well be set for a thriller with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen the current in-form driver with 60 points from the last three races.

Three Key Pointers

  • Should we see a two stop race strategy, Mercedes could deploy alternate strategies for Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas with the former attempting a one stopper given that he will have one additional set of hard tyres available.
  • This weekend is crucial for Haas to understand where their car is ahead of the summer break as they continue their Australia v current spec comparison.
  • Given the technicality of the Hungaroring and need for car balance, expect Red Bull to be closer to Mercedes and Ferrari than normal although straight line speed is crucial along the main straight.
