Tottenham Hotspur have signed defender, Alice Sombath from Lyon for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Sombath’s move sees her end a six-year stint at Lyon where she graduated through their academy into the senior squad, and helped them win 10 trophies across six seasons;

- 1 x UEFA Women’s Champions League title
Sombath has signed an undisclosed contract but told tottenhamhotspur.com that she is keen to excel in North London and bring extra qualities to their defensive play.
“I want to do my best here at Tottenham Hotspur. I think the league is very competitive, every game is a tough game, and that’s what I’m most excited about. I saw that Spurs had a very good season last year – my qualities can bring something to the team, even though I know they already have a lot.”
Tottenham Hotspur Women’s Head Coach, Martin Ho is “delighted” to sign the 22-year-old who can play at right-back and centre-back, as he explained that she fits his vision for the club.
“She’s a player we’ve followed closely for some time and one who fits the profile of what we’re building here. She has already shown real maturity in her performances, and we believe she has all the qualities to continue developing into a top player within our environment.
“Alice is an aggressive defender who is comfortable in possession, competitive in her duels, and has the ambition to keep improving every day. Those characteristics are really important to us, and we’re excited to help her take the next step in her career while strengthening the squad.

Sombath began her career at CSOM Arcueil before she went on to play for Paris FC, Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon at youth level, and it was at the latter where she graduated into Lyon’s senior squad and went on to score two goals and create one assist in 102 appearances since her senior debut in August 2021.
Sombath represents France at international level after having graduated through their youth levels to earn 16 senior caps since her national-team debut in 2024, and was part of their run to the Quarter-Finals of UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
