England look to top Group L in a crucial clash against Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Locked on three points apiece, victory would see England advance into the Knockout Stages as Group L winners if Croatia avoid defeat to Panama, whilst Ghana likewise can secure their place in the knockout with a win.
Team News
Declan Rice is set to play for England despite having suffered minor back and hamstring injuries during their 4-2 victory over Croatia.
Bukayo Saka (Achilles) and Marcus Rashford (hamstring) are also set to be available.
Ghana could be without goalkeeper, Lawrence Ati-Zigi after he suffered a groin injury during their 1-0 win over Panama.
When is Kick-Off?
England meet Ghana at Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, on Tuesday 23 June at 4pm EDT (9pm BST), live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is England’s first World Cup meeting against Ghana.
- Ghana drew 1-1 against England in their only previous meeting in March 2011 in a friendly.
- England’s Harry Kane scored twice from his three shots on target against Croatia.
- Marvin Senaya won more tackles against Panama than any other Ghana player (3).
Prediction
With a huge chance to wrap up the group with a game to spare, England certainly have to be favourites if they can produce the second-half control and intensity which blew Croatia apart but their defence has to be tighter when they’re ahead than they were last time out as they just switched off sloppily twice.
Ghana meanwhile kept things very tight in their clinical last-gasp win against Panama but I now want to see Brandon Thomas-Asante starting, as him and Antoine Semenyo shifted to the right flank should give them extra attacking flair and threat.
I however do think that England will be too strong and should claim a routine win.
Prediction: England 2-0 Ghana
Result: England 0-0 Ghana
