Norwich City have signed midfielder, Sam Field from QPR for an undisclosed fee.

Field’s move to Norwich has ended a five-and-a-half year stint in West London in which he scored 12 goals in 198 appearances for QPR, having initially joined on a half-season loan in January 2021 from West Bromwich Albion.

The 28 year-old has signed an initial three-year contract until June 2029 with a club option to extend the contract for a further year, with Field excited to join a permanent basis after he spent the second half of last season on loan in which he made 15 appearances.

“It was a no-brainer in the end, I really enjoyed it at the end of last season.

“You could feel the energy around the place straight away; the people, fans, everything, the whole area, I just really enjoyed it.”

Field proceeded to praise Norwich’s Head Coach, Philippe Clement for unlocking further talent within him and can’t wait to play under him on a permanent basis.

“I think Philippe worked me out quite quickly and I’ve got a huge amount of respect for him and he was obviously a big pull.

“When I first came here, he had only been in charge for a couple of months, but the way the players were speaking about him sounded really promising.

“It is such a nice feeling that you’ve already seen the fans and know the club. I’m really excited to get going.”

Field also paid tribute to QPR as he issued a farewell message on qpr.co.uk in which he thanked the club for their support.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone involved at QPR, whether players, staff or fans.

“I will always have a strong connection to the club, with some great memories to look back on. It’s been an eventful five years, but such an experience that has helped me grow as a player and person. Good luck, you R’s.”
