2026 FIFA World Cup: Group C – Haiti vs Scotland

Haiti face Scotland in their opening match of Group C at 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Haiti are making their second appearance at the World Cup and first since 1974, whilst Scotland are back on the world stage after a 28-year absence.

Team News

Leverton Pierre has withdrawn from Haiti’s squad due to an adductor injury, with Garven Metusala called up as his replacement.

Scotland will be without defender, Scott McKenna due to a calf injury, although he is expected to be fit for selection in their last two group matches.

Billy Gilmour withdrew from the squad after their 4-1 home friendly win over Curacao due to a knee injury, with Tyler Fletcher called up as his replacement.

When is Kick-Off?

Haiti face Scotland at Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, USA, on Saturday 13 June at 9pm EDT (2am BST Sunday 13 June), live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.

Prediction

Considered underdogs with absolutely nothing to lose, Haiti just have to give this best shot because with Brazil and Morocco to come, this is their best hope of finishing third and having a shot at getting out of the group amongst the best third-placed teams.

Scotland likewise know that this is their best shot at finishing third at minimum and are coming into this game off the back of clinical wins over Curacao and Bolivia, so I now hope that they can bring that same quality because there is no better chance to put themselves on course for the knockout stages.

Both teams though were defensively solid in their qualifying campaigns but I do think that Scotland have enough quality to nick this.

Prediction: Haiti 1-2 Scotland

Result: Haiti 0-1 Scotland
