2026 FIFA World Cup: Group C – Scotland vs Brazil

Scotland meet Brazil in a pivotal final Group C clash at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Victory would see Scotland top the group if Morocco fail to beat Haiti, otherwise they can qualify as runners-up if they beat Brazil and Morocco avoid defeat to Haiti.

Brazil will top Group C with a win if Morocco fail to beat Haiti or if they better Morocco’s goal difference, goals scored or fair play stats.

Team News

Lewis Ferguson is set to start for Scotland despite having missed training in recent days due to fatigue.

Aaron Hickey (unspecified) and Scott McKenna (calf) are too expected to feature.

Brazil could welcome Neymar back after he missed their opening two matches due to a calf injury.

Raphinha is available despite false rumours that he was set to leave the squad to tend to a personal issue.

When is Kick-Off?

Scotland face Brazil at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, USA, on Wednesday 24 June at 6pm EDT (11pm BST),, live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Scotland have never beaten Brazil in four previous World Cup meetings (D1, L3).
  • Brazil have kept two clean sheets in their four previous World Cup meetings against Scotland.
  • Scott McTominay has failed to put any of his four shots for Scotland onto target.
  • Vinicius Junior has been involved in three of Brazil’s four goals at this tournament – having produced two goals and one assist in two appearances.

Prediction

After a wasteful performance against Morocco following a costly slow start, Scotland really need to knuckle down and produce a performance akin to last November’s gutsy win over Denmark if want to qualify without the third-placed lottery as this won’t be easy by any stretch.

Brazil meanwhile clinically dispatched Haiti by a larger margin than Scotland managed to so confidence will be high, especially with Neymar back and if he starts then I expect them to win this such is their attacking quality and threat.

As much as many will hope that Scotland will give Brazil a good battle, I do think that this will end in defeat for the Tartan Army but the knockouts should be achievable if don’t get thrashed here.

Prediction: Scotland 1-2 Brazil
