Mead’s Arsenal Departure Confirmed at Conclusion of 2025-26 Season

England forward, Beth Mead will depart Arsenal at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.

Mead joined Arsenal from Sunderland in January 2017 and has gone on to score 83 goals in 258 appearances across all competitions in a nine-and-a-half year spell.

In a farewell video, Mead explained that “leaving this club isn’t easy” but is proud to be leaving “with so much love, so much pride and so much gratitude.”

She also helped the Gunners achieve six titles during her time in North London which included;

  • 3 x Women’s League Cup (2017-18, 22-23 & 23-24)
  • 1 x Women’s Super League (2018-19)
  • 1 x UEFA Women’s Champions League (2024-25)
  • 1 x FIFA Women’s Champions Cup. (2026)

During her time at Arsenal, Mead mad her England senior debut and has gone on to score 39 goals in 79 appearances, and was part of their two-time UEFA Women’s Euro title wins in 2022 and 25 respectively, whilst she was also in the squads which won 2019 SheBelieves Cup and 2022 Arnold Clark Cup titles.

Mead also won the Golden Boot at the 2022 UEFA Women’s Euro with six goals and consequently was crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year that year.

Upon confirmation of Mead’s departure at the end of the season, Arsenal’s Director of Women’s Football – Clare Wheatley paid tribute to the forward for her success at the club.

“Beth has made a huge contribution to our football club over nine years, and will go down in history as one of our best forwards and a legend of the club. Beth is such a special person and will always be welcome at Arsenal. I know our supporters will join me in wishing Beth happiness and success in her future endeavours.”

Victoria Pelova and Laia Codina will also depart at the conclusion of their contracts this summer.

Pelova’s exit marks an end to her three-and-a-half year spell in North London, in which she scored six goals in 87 appearances for the Gunners.

Codina’s departure comes after three years at the club in which she scored four goals in 58 appearances.
