2025-26 Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Semi-Finals: Second Leg – Millwall vs Hull

Millwall meet Hull in a winners-take-all second-leg showdown in their Championship Play-Off Semi-Final tie.

With the tie locked at 0-0 on aggregate after a goalless first leg, victory would see Millwall or Hull advance to the Play-Off Final on Saturday 23 May (time tbc).

Should the aggregate score be level at full time, the match will go to extra time and potentially penalties.

Team News

Millwall have no fresh injury concerns to report after the goalless first leg but manager, Alex Neil could opt to rotate his squad given the physical encounter on Humberside.

Should Neil indeed opt to rotate his squad then Danny McNamara, Tom Watson and Mihailo Ivanovic will be amongst those looking for a start.

Joe Bryan (muscle), Lukas Jensen (Achilles), Dan Kelly (hamstring), Caleb Taylor (foot) Benicio Boaitey-Baker (groin) and Massimo Luongo (knee) remain absent.

Hull too have no fresh injury concerns to report after the first leg but manager, Sergej Jakirovic could too rotate his squad, with Semi Ajayi, Paddy McNair and Kieran Dowell amongst those looking for a recall to the starting line-up.

Cody Drameh (quad), Eliot Matzo (ACL), Toby Collyer (hamstring), Amir Hadziahmetovic and Nathan Tinsdale (both knee) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Millwall host Hull at The Den on Monday 11 May at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports Football in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Millwall drew 0-0 in their first EFL play-off meeting against Hull in the first leg of this semi-final tie.
  • Hull are making their first play-off visit to Millwall, but have lost one of their last eight Championship clashes against Alex Neil’s Lions at The Den (W2, D5, L1).
  • Hull have never won three consecutive away matches against Millwall.
  • Excluding penalties, Millwall have won just one of five EFL Play-Off semi-final second legs played at home (W1, D1, L3).
  • Hull lost their only previous EFL Play-Off semi-final second leg played away from home (L1), which came in a 2-0 defeat at Leyton Orient in the 2000-01 League One Play-Offs to lose 2-1 on aggregate.

Prediction

With their tie in their own hands after a frustrating first leg which lacked much quality, Millwall now need to raise their game and put their previous second leg at home woes behind them and bring their top level as thee play-offs are their best opportunity to end a 36-year wait for a top-flight return.

Hull though were the more livelier despite being outplayed in attacking chances in my opinion and well organised on their defensive front too, but they now need to bring more attacking fight to match Millwall and put aside the ghost of their only previous second-leg away match in the EFL Play-Offs.

My instinct though is that this could be another cagey encounter because neither team will want to concede early and be left chasing the game, so I just feel that this has a draw written all over it albeit with goals this time but Millwall could nick this on penalties.

Prediction: Millwall 1-1 Hull (Millwall to win on penalties)

Result: Millwall 0-2 Hull (Hull win 2-0 on aggregate)
