Nottingham Forest look to secure Premier League survival against Newcastle United at the City Ground.
Victory would lift Forest above Newcastle and as high as 13th if Crystal Palace lose at home to Everton, whilst Newcastle can climb as high as tenth if Everton lose at Palace.
Team News
Forest have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 4-0 second-leg defeat at Aston Villa, which ended their UEFA Europa League run.
Zach Abbott, Morgan Gibbs-White (both concussion), Ola Aina, Dan Ndoye (both knock) and Murillo (muscle) all face late fitness checks.
Ibrahim Sangare (knock), Callum Hudson-Odoi (quad), Willy Boly, Nicolo Savona and John Victor (all knee) remain absent.
Newcastle will be without midfielder, Lewis Miley for the remainder of this season after he suffered a fibula injury in training.
Emil Krafth (knee), Tino Livramento (thigh) and Fabian Schar (foot) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Forest host Newcastle at the City Ground on Sunday 10 May at 2pm BST, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League channels in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Forest have won just one of their 15 previous Premier League meetings against Newcastle (W1, D3, L11).
- Newcastle are yet to taste a Premier League defeat at Forest (W4, D3).
- Igor Jesus has scored in four of his last five league appearances for Forest.
- Newcastle’s William Osula has scored in three of his last four appearances for Newcastle.
Prediction
Having produced a lacklustre defeat at Villa to throw away their aggregate lead and exit the Europa League, Forest need to quickly regroup because this isn’t an ideal bounce-back fixture given their poor Premier League form against Newcastle, but they crucially should have a few players back from injury.
Newcastle meanwhile rode their luck against Brighton with a solid defensive display but they crucially were clinical with their own opportunities to end their rut, but they now need to take that confidence because this is a chance to boost their chances of finishing as high up as they can.
Forest though do have the better league momentum so I expect them to deliver a response to their display at Villa but Newcastle have found their winning groove again, which sets this up to be an interesting battle and I wouldn’t be surprised if this finishes level.
Prediction: Forest 1-1 Newcastle
Result: Forest 1-1 Newcastle
