Title-chasing Arsenal host Newcastle in a crucial Premier League encounter.
Victory or a draw will move Arsenal back top of the table, whilst Newcastle can climb to 12th with a win if Fulham lose and Crystal Palace fail to win elsewhere.
Team News
Arsenal have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 2-1 loss at Manchester City.
Riccardo Calafiori (knock) and Bukayo Saka (Achilles) face late fitness checks but Jurrien Timber (ankle) and Mikel Merino (foot) remain absent.
Newcastle will be without Tino Livramento after he suffered a thigh injury during their 2-1 home loss to Bournemouth.
Anthony Gordon is again sidelined after he missed their defeat to Bournemouth due to a hip injury.
Joelinton (suspension), Emil Krafth (knee) and Fabian Schar (foot) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Arsenal host Newcastle at Emirates Stadium on Saturday 25 April at 17:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Arsenal have lost two of their last seven league meetings against Newcastle (W4, D1, L2).
- Newcastle have claimed just one point in their last 13 league visits to Arsenal (D1, L12).
- Arsenal have kept eight clean sheets in their last nine league matches at home to Newcastle.
- Arsenal are looking to avoid suffering three consecutive league defeats for the first time since April 2022.
- Newcastle have lost their last three matches by 2-1 results.
Prediction
With Man City still having a game in hand, Arsenal can’t afford to drop points any more because a single slip could cost them the title but they have to just refocus now after two tough defeats, as they would of likely at least got draws against Bournemouth and City on any other day.
Newcastle meanwhile will be disappointed to have suffered a third straight 2-1 defeat after they were marginally outplayed by Bournemouth just like Arsenal were, so this is a chance for them to regroup and show more clinical fight but Gordon is a big loss out wide on the left.
Eddie Howe’s Magpies also don’t have a particularly good away record in this league fixture, and I honestly don’t see them winning this if Arsenal turn up with the right attitude.
Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle
