2025-26 League One: Week 38 – Huddersfield vs Lincoln City

Huddersfield continue their play-off push against League One leaders, Lincoln City in a midweek clash at Accu Stadium.

Victory could lift Huddersfield up to fifth if they better Stevenage’s result at Plymouth, whilst Lincoln City will stay top regardless of the result.

Team News

Alfie May is set to return for Huddersfield after he missed their last two matches due to illness, although he had returned to training before their goalless draw at Port Vale on Saturday.

Radinio Balker (adductor), Bojan Radulovic (hamstring), Joe Low (calf), Lynden Gooch (groin), Herbie Kane (PCL), Danny Ward and Rhys Healey (both knee) remain sidelined.

Lincoln City have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 3-1 victory against Stockport.

Freddie Draper (hamstring), James Collins (ACL), Adam Jackson (hernia), Oscar Thorn (ankle) and Josh Honohan (muscle) are still sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Huddersfield host Lincoln City at Accu Stadium on Tuesday 17 March at 7:45pm GMT, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Huddersfield have won one of their last five league meetings against Lincoln City (W1, D2, L2).
  • Lincoln City have won one of their last five regular-season league visits to Huddersfield (W1, D2, L2).
  • Two of Huddersfield’s last three home games against Lincoln in all competitions ended in 2-2 draws, whilst their other clash ended in a 1-0 first-round loss in 2019-20 League Cup in August 19.
  • No Huddersfield player has produced more shots on target so far this season in League One than Alfie May (22).
  • Lincoln City have kept clean sheets in their last three away matches (W3).

Prediction

Currently sat in the last play-off spot on goal difference, Huddersfield just need to keep their focus and put together another robust defensive display but with better finishing after they were frustrated at Port Vale.

Lincoln City meanwhile are firmly on course to get promoted as champions if can continue their rich form following a clinical win against Stockport who had better possession, yet couldn’t match the Imps’ attacking end product which would of given them more confidence for this banana skin test.

I however do expect this to be closely fought with squad rotation considered a factor and given what’s at stake for both teams, a draw feels like a safe call.

Prediction: Huddersfield 1-1 Lincoln City
