2025-26 FA Cup: Fifth Round – Wrexham vs Chelsea

Wrexham look to spring a cupset against Chelsea in their fifth-round tie in the 2025-26 FA Cup.

Victory would see Wrexham secure their first Quarter-Final appearance in 29 years, whilst Chelsea look to reach the last eight for the second time in three seasons.

Team News

George Dobson is a doubt for Wrexham after he needed surgery on a wrist injury suffered in their 1-0 victory at Charlton, although he could play with a protective cast if approved by club doctors.

Issa Kabore (hamstring) is a doubt but Matty James (toe), Liberato Cacace (hamstring) and Ben Sheaf (knee) remain absent.

Chelsea will welcome Pedro Neto back into contention after he was suspended for their 4-1 comeback Premier League victory at Aston Villa.

Dario Essugo (unspecified), Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Estevao (both hamstring), Levi Colwill (ACL) and Mykhailo Mudryk (suspension) are still sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Wrexham host Chelsea at STOK Racecourse Ground on Saturday 6 March at 5:45pm GMT, live on BBC One and TNT Sports 2 in the UK.

Prediction

With one defeat in their last nine matches in all competitions, Wrexham can come into this match confident that they can take the fight to Chelsea from an attacking perspective, but their defence will need to be on top form if they’re to keep Liam Rosenoir’s Blues quiet.

Chelsea meanwhile absolutely outplayed Villa once they settled after a sloppy start allowed the Villains to get in front, although the result could of easily been different if VAR hadn’t disallowed Villa’s second goal but there is no doubt that their energetic attack is a difficult force for defences to deal with.

Although Rosenoir will naturally have one eye on Chelsea’s midweek trip to PSG, I do expect him to field a strong line-up amidst definite rotation but this does feel like Chelsea’s to lose although Wrexham will surely give more of a fight than the visitors might expect.

Prediction: Wrexham 1-3 Chelsea

Result: Wrexham 2-4 (AET) Chelsea
