Six English teams have discovered their paths towards potential 2025-26 Champions League glory following the knockout stages draw.

Newcastle comfortably dispatched Azerbaijan’s Qarabag in the knockout play-offs to secure their first appearance at the Round of 16 stage of the competition since its introduction in the 2003-04 season.

Eddie Howe’s Magpies however face a tough Round of 16 tie after they were drawn against Barcelona, with the first leg to be played at St James’ Park before they head to the Nou Camp for the second leg.

This tie will be Newcastle’s second meeting against Barcelona this season after they lost 2-1 at home in the opening matchweek of the league phase.

Should Newcastle pull off a shock against the Catalonian club then a Quarter-Final against Atletico Madrid or Tottenham Hotspur awaits.

As top seeds after they topped the league phase, Arsenal will face Bayer Leverkusen in the Round of 16 and the winner of that tie will await either Bodo/Glimt or Sporting Lisbon in the Quarter-Finals.

If Arsenal reach the semi-finals, they could meet either Newcastle, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid or Barcelona.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City face a difficult Round of 16 tie against Real Madrid, with the winner of that tie awaiting Atalanta or Bayern Munich in the Quarter-Finals.

Should Man City reach the semi-finals, they will face either title holders; PSG or one of Chelsea, Galatasaray or Liverpool for a place in the final.
