2025-26 Premier League: Week 28 – Burnley vs Brentford

Relegation-battling Burnley entertain top-seven chasing Brentford in a Premier League clash.

Victory could move second-bottom Burnley to within five points of safety, whilst Brentford will stay seventh with a win.

Armando Broja (knock), Axel Tuanzebe (Achilles), Zeki Amdouni (knee), Josh Cullen (ACL), Conor Roberts (Achilles), Mike Tresor (ankle) and Jordan Beyer (hamstring) remain sidelined.

Brentford could be without defender, Aaron Hickey after he suffered a knock during their 2-0 loss to Brighton.

Michael Kayode (knock) could return but Fabio Carvalho, Josh Dasilva and Antoni Milambo (all ACL) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Burnley host Brentford at Turf Moor on Saturday 28 February at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Burnley have won two of five previous Premier League clashes against Brentford (W2, L3).
  • Brentford are yet to win away at Burnley in the Premier League (L2), having lost 3-1 in October 2021 then 2-1 in March 2024.
  • Keith Andrews’ Bees have kept clean sheets in two of their last four meetings against Burnley.
  • No Burnley player has converted more of their total top-flight shots this season onto target than Jaidon Anthony, who has put 13 of his 31 shots onto the target – of which six of those 13 shots on target found the net.
  • Dango Ouattara has scored in each of Brentford’s last two away matches (W2).

Prediction

Despite their eight-point deficit towards safety, Burnley just need to keep performing as well as they’ve done in their last two league games and try to get more wins if want to give themselves a fair chance at staying up, especially after a resilient defensive display to snatch a late draw at Chelsea.

Brentford meanwhile just lacked intensity and quality in their loss against Brighton but still in control of seventh – which could be enough for European qualification if don’t win FA Cup, they have a great opportunity to bounce back if they bring the right attitude and more clinical quality.

Turf Moor though hasn’t been kind to the Bees in the Premier League but if there is a time to end that small hoodoo, this is the ideal time but Burnley won’t make it easy.

Prediction: Burnley 1-2 Brentford

Result: Burnley 3-4 Brentford
