Sheffield United face Sheffield Wednesday in a crucial Steel City derby at Bramall Lane, as the Owls fight to prolong their Championship status.
Victory will lift Sheffield Utd up to 14th in the table, whilst Sheffield Wednesday will remain rock-bottom irrespective of the result but a win would see them avoid being officially relegated at the home of their local rivals.

Stat Attack
- Sheffield Utd are unbeaten in their last seven league meetings against Sheffield Wednesday (W4, D3).
- Sheffield Wednesday are winless in their last five visits to Sheffield Utd (D3, L2).
- Chris Wilder’s Blades haven’t conceded in their last six meetings against Sheffield Wednesday (W3, D3).
- Sheffield Utd have won three of four league matches at home in 2026 (W3, L1).
- Sheffield Wednesday have scored just one goal in all competitions in 2026 (L10).
Prediction
Whilst Sheffield Utd haven’t been consistently winning, they are still in a massive scrap for the last play-off spot and come into this game with three wins from four league games at home since the turn of the year, which will give them confidence that they can relegate their local rivals here.
Sheffield Wednesday though picked up their first goal of 2026 last time out in their 2-1 loss to Millwall where small defensive errors cost them in an entertaining game, which saw them manage 11 shots which is actually something given their poor attacking stats in recent games.
I however do expect this to be one-way traffic once the Blades settle as painful as it will be for the Owls to be officially relegated in the Steel City derby, through little fault of the playing squad and coaching staff whose fate was sealed by ex owner, Dejphon Chansiri’s actions last summer.
Prediction: Sheffield Utd 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday
Result: Sheffield Utd 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday
