Nottingham Forest look to boost their Premier League survival chances against top-four-chasing Liverpool.
Victory would lift Forest up to 16th in the table until at least Sunday evening, whilst Liverpool will stay sixth regardless of the result unless they win by five goals or more to move up to fifth.
Team News
Forest have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 3-0 victory away to Fenerbahce in the first leg of their Europa League Knockout Play-Off tie.
Matz Sels (groin), Willy Boly, Nicolo Savona, John Victor and Chris Wood (all knee) remain absent.
Liverpool too have no fresh injury concerns after their 3-0 victory at home to Brighton in the FA Cup.
Wataru Endo (ankle), Jeremie Frimpong (hamstring), Alex Isak (leg), Conor Bradley (knee) and Giovanni Leoni (ACL) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Forest host Liverpool at the City Ground on Sunday 22 February at 2pm GMT, live on Sky Sports Main Event in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Forest have avoided defeat in four of their last seven meetings against Liverpool (W3, D1, L3).
- Liverpool have won one of their last eight league visits to Forest (W1, D4, L3).
- Two of Forest’s last three home games against Liverpool ended in 1-0 wins for both teams, whilst their recent clash at the City Ground ended in a 1-1 draw.
- Forest have lost one of their last six league matches (W2, D3, L1).
- Liverpool have won one of their away matches in the top flight in 2026 (W1, D2, L1).
Prediction
Having begun the Viktor Pereira era with a surprise demolition of Fenerbahce, Forest now need to bring the same intensity and quality because this is pretty winnable if they can again be clinical, especially given their home form against Liverpool and this is Pereira’s first home match in charge.
Liverpool meanwhile clinically dispatched Brighton in a ruthless FA Cup display at home where they were slightly outplayed in attack, but they now need to bring that quality onto the road where they’ve struggled domestically for wins so far since the start of 2026.
The City Ground though will not be an easy place to play at given that the home crowd will be up for this whilst the players will want to continue their momentum – especially to give Pereira a winning home bow, so I expect a competitive game which could well end in a draw.
Prediction: Forest 1-1 Liverpool
Result: Forest 0-1 Liverpool
