Stat Attack
- Sheffield Wednesday have won one of their last 10 meetings against Millwall (W1, D4, L5).
- Millwall have won one of their last nine visits to Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough (W1, D5, L3).
- Two of Sheffield Wednesday’s last four home games against Millwall ended in 0-0 draws, whilst they also suffered a 4-0 loss and 2-2 draw in their two most recent clashes at Hillsborough.
- Sheffield Wednesday have failed to score in their last four league games at home (D1, L3), in which they conceded four goals without reply in their last three at Hillsborough.
- 14 of Millwall’s 39 league goals so far this season have been scored by Femi Azeez and Mihailo Ivanovic, who have both scored seven goals apiece.
Prediction
With relegation now virtually all but mathematically confirmed, Sheffield Wednesday just need to focus on their game here and try to atone for their disastrous display at Swansea but shots on target are severely lacking never mind their struggles to score.
Millwall meanwhile have the worst goal difference of the top 11 teams but have a chance to go third and position themselves nicely ahead of Coventry’s top-of-table showdown against Middlesbrough on Monday, so this is the ideal game to put pressure on their rivals and boost their goal difference.
Hillsborough though hasn’t exactly been kind to Millwall but given the Owls’ current mess, I expect this to be a comfortable one-sided result that will put Alex Neil’s Lions firmly in the mix for a late automatic promotion charge.
Prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 0-3 Millwall
Result: Sheffield Wednesday 1-2 Millwall
